This book does a good job of walking a parent that doesn't know much about video games or Minecraft through what the game is about, how it functions and addresses any concerns a parent might have about the video game. The book also shares ways for a parent to be more involved with their child using Minecraft. It's a good resource if you don't know much about this game as a parent and if you simply want to engage with your child that's currently playing Minecraft. Either way, it's a good read.
Eric knows a lot about the intricacies of Minecraft but is still able to write about the game in a clear, understandable manner. This book is written specifically with parents in mind. I am not a parent but learned a ton about Minecraft even though I have never played it myself. I appreciate Eric's passion for helping parents connect with their kids through video games. This book is helpful for any parent with a child who plays Minecraft, which just happens to be one of the most popular video games on the planet right now!
As a parent whose kids are very often asking for this app or that game to be downloaded, it’s very helpful to have an easy to read and understand primer like this for one of the most popular games out there. This brief read not only helped me have a conversation with confidence about the nature of the game but also reassured me about what it was and what it was not.
This is a very good resource for any parent concerned about making sure they not only connect with their kids, but also making sure they have a handle on what they are encountering in games on a daily basis.
This book is very helpful in bridging the gap between young gamers and their parents. I really appreciate that the author gives helpful and informative advice for some of the concerns a parent could have with Minecraft or any other game. For example, he gives simple instructions on how to create your own server so that your child won't be exposed to the public servers that cannot be controlled. As someone who does not have much experience with video games (except Mario and other "arcade" style games), this gives me something to work with and questions to ask. This is a great tool for anyone with kiddos that are into gaming and takes away some of the anxiety that comes with letting your kids participate in something so foreign to most of us.
I know less than zero about video games, but this book took the fear out of Minecraft for me. It actually made me curious enough that I thought about trying it myself...maybe ) If you have a young gamer in your life who is crazy about Minecraft and you've wondered if there's anything you should be concerned about regarding it, or if you've just simply wanted someone to explain it to you- this is your book. It gives a few practical ideas for striking up a conversation with your child who's Minecraft crazy (and at the very least gives you enough vocab that you could have an intelligent conversation with him or her about it) Very quick read, took the stress out of this topic for me. Hope there will be more of these books.
